Recent reports that physicians oppose changes to the ACA based on AMA’s position mislead the public. With as few as one in seven belonging to the organization it hardly represents American physicians.
I suspect that most AMA members do not treat patients, but have administrative or other non-clinical jobs, often for regulatory agencies such as state medical boards.
Few practicing physicians I have known belong to AMA, and few support (or feel supported by) AMA. Most feel betrayed.
Ask your own physician whether he/she belongs to AMA and how they feel about the organization and its positions.
Maybe the press should talk to Practicing Physicians of America for example.
