It’s bad enough that I must use snail mail instead of an online form to inform this archaic and counterproductive agency that I want to cancel my registration, but according to their telephone representative they do not routinely acknowledge receipt of such notification, so someone could still use my DEA number fraudulently to obtain “controlled” drugs by prescription.
Of course that assumes that pharmacists actually take the time to verify legitimacy of prescriber DEA numbers.
Three weeks after I sent the letter their telephone representative still cannot confirm receipt of my letter, but told me that it normally takes 3-4 weeks.
What do you bet that when I call again this negligent agency still will not confirm receiving my letter?
Let us hope Donald Trump can shape DEA up, or better yet, shut it down.
