Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy
Patient's with this mental disorder, rather than assuming
the role of a sick person themselves, intentionally feign or produce symptoms in their
child in order to maintain contact it this role with medical providers. This can even
result in serious injury or death of the child. (Named after Karl Friedrich Hieronymus, Freiherr von Münchhausen.)
