forensic: parental alienation syndrome (PAS)


Although this term used by psychiatrist Richard Gardner as early as 1985 may be applied as though it referred to a mental disorder, it is generally applied only in the context of child custody disputes and implies not only animosity on the part of the child toward a parent, but also an apparent campaign on the part of the other parent to influence the child against the target parent.
