reimbursement: competitive medical plan (CMP)
A type of managed care organization created by the 1982 TEFRA legislation to facilitate the enrollment of Medicare beneficiaries into managed care plans. CMP's are organized and financed much like HMO's but are not bound by all the regulatory requirements facing HMO's.*
