- Consider for mixed anxiety depression.
- FDA label in USA for OCD, approved in Europe for depression, generally well tolerated and effective in panic.
- May have a lower incidence of sexual dysfunction than other SSRIs
- Blocks metabolism of theophylin so reduce theophylin dose if given concomitantly.
- Some withdrawal effects, GI side effects.
- Consider avoiding in patients with multiple GI somatic complaints, and/or insomnia who wish to avoid sexual dysfunction.
