Neurologist Sigmund Freud is credited with
developing this early method of psychotherapy based on his
theories of neurosis arising out of psychosexual
development in childhood and resulting
intrapsychic
conflict . Psychoanalysts psychiatrists , psychologists ,
social workers or other professionals, treat
their patients by techniques involving achievement of insight, working through,
interpretation of dream material, and understanding transference and resistance
to change.
