resistance (Gestalt)

- a fundamental concept in Gestalt, mainly concerned with identifying the 'resistances' which prevent free movement round the cycles of contact or needs satisfaction, and the unfolding of the self. The main classical resistances are: confluence, introjection, projection and retroflection.
