Marta overhears Harlan: "Why do your men instinctively pull at threads on their parachutes?" (0:25)
Blanc tells Elliot, "You have been very patient, my friend."
Elliot: ”Except it was a suicide... He’s the one that cut his own throat...” (0:27)
Harlan tells nurse Marta, "That’s elder abuse."
Marta injects Harlan with a drug.
Marta asks Harlan, ”You wanna do drugs?”
Harlan: ”Why did I wait till my mid eighties to become a morphine user?”
”... what is the good stuff’s dosage supposed to be?”
Marta: ”I’m gonna give you an emergency shot of naloxone so you don’t die in 10 minutes.”
”You’ll feel symptoms in five: sweats, disorientation and then, yes. The big dose injected within 10...”
Harlan: ”From the moment of injection... even if the victim called for an ambulance when he first felt the symptoms...”
Marta: ”Are you nuts?”
”This is crazy.”
Harlan: ”It sounds crazy, but it’ll work.” (0:33)
Marta tells Blanc, referring to Harlan, "I gave him pain medication."
Elliot: ”What kind of medication did you give him?”
Marta: ”It’s a non-narcotic analgesic, and to help him sleep, 3 milligrams of morphine.” (0:43)
Fran tells Marta, "I don’t think he killed himself... she goes crazy, and she kills herself... It’s not even 3% as crazy..." (0:45)
Ransom: "Are you goddamn insane?" (0:47)
Meg: "Hey, Fran, do you still have your stash?"
Fran, opening a drawer full of joints: ”Take ‘em whenever you need ‘em. They’re just drying out since she gave me that Juul.”
Meg insufflates from a joint.
Marta: ”That’s where Fran keeps her stash?” (0:48)
Walt asks Meg, "Have you been smoking grass?" (0:49)
Blanc tells Marta, "The medical examiner was ready to rule this a suicide..."
Marta: ”Detective, if you want my insight into the family, none of them are murderers. That’s my insight.” (0:51)
Harlan cuts his throat while Marta stands at the door. (0:53)
Joni: "Okay, people grieve in different ways."
Walts tells Ransom, ”So I guess you’re gonna have to... kick whatever fashion drug you’re on... you’re nuts.” (1:01)
Harlan’s lawyer Alan Stevens tells the family, "So, if anyone is confused about anything... we can talk."
Richard: ”He was on medication. He was on a great deal of medication.”
Richard: ”Morphine?” (1:08)
Marta tells the family, "Guys, I’m also confused." (1:11)
Ransom tells Marta, "I know he didn’t commit suicide." (1:14)
Alan tells Linda, "You not liking what he did does not speak to testamentary capacity."
”But Harlan committed suicide.” (1:15)
Marta tells Ransom, "Just saying it, it sounds insane..." (1:18)
By telephone, Meg tells Marta, "That was nuts." (1:19)
Her sister Alicia tells Marta, "Everything’s going crazy." (1:22)
Blanc asks Harlan’s mother Wanetta, "Why is grief the provenance of youth?... age deepens all feelings, including grief." (1:23)
Walter tells Marta, "We all kind of went a little crazy yesterday." (1:26)
Ransom: "Marta, this is gonna show the morphine overdose." (1:29)
Marta tells Ransom, "This is insane." (1:30)
Ransom tells Marta, "If you miss your chance to get this tox report."
Marta: ”Oh, my God, I’m just pure Adrenalin right now.” (1:32)
Marta sees a bottle labeled Morphine and a syringe on the floor next to Fran. (1:37)
Marta asks Blanc, "But why did Fran take my morphine?... she didn’t seem like a user to me." (1:39)
Meg tells Marta, "God, I’m so raiding Fran’s stash after this."
Marta tells Blanc, ”I know where the tox report is.”
Marta hands a paper entitled "Toxicology Report" to Blanc.(1:41)
Blanc tells the assembled family, "Furthermore, it will be my professional recommendation to the local authorities that the manner of death In the case of Harlan Thrombey is ruled as suicide..." (1:43)
Blanc tells Elliot and Marta, "... there is at least one truly guilty party behind it all... committing a heinous crime with selfish intent." (1:46)
Ransom tells Harlan, "You can’t be that crazy."
”Are you goddamn insane?”
Harlan: ”I’m sane for the first time in my life.” (1:47)
Blanc tells Ransom, "You knew what medications Harlan took. You new what Marta would be injecting him with that night... You used the syringes in the kit to switch the liquids in the two medication vials, and as a final precaution you took the naloxone, the lifesaving antidote."
”Hand me that vial of morphine.”
Marta: ”I gave Harlan...”
Blanc: ”... the correct doses.”
Blanc reveals the bottle labeled morphine.
Blanc: ”The cause of death was truly, solely suicide...”
”... but tomorrow brings news... of a slit throat and a suicide.”
Referring to Fran: ”She witnessed you tampering with Harlan’s medication in the medical bag.”
”She gets a copy of the toxicology report.”
”... what is his reaction? Elation... a blood tox report will prove her guilt... it will be all undone when the tox report comes to light... the tox report will prove her innocent...” (1:49)
Fran tells Ransom, "I knew Harlan would just kill himself."
Ransom renders Fran unconscious with a volatile anesthetic. (1:56)
Blanc: "And it would have worked if we hadn't have brought you in for questioning, so you could not make your anonymous call, and if Fran had not stashed a safety copy of the tox report."
Marta: ”Fran’s dead.” (1:57)
